Back when I published this book, I was young and inexperienced. I made minimum wage, just like everyone else starting out without connections from mom and dad. I figured since I couldn’t play a good offense by making more money, I should play great defense by saving as much money as possible. I scoured the Internet for every resource on how to save money and tried everything.
Those were difficult days, no doubt. But I have no regrets—I became extremely resourceful with my money. That resourcefulness made it possible for me to attend a workshop on how to write and publish a book. What most people don’t know is that I scrimped like crazy to afford the flight to Chicago to attend that workshop. I remember specifically during that year, 10 cents meant so much to me. At the grocery store one week, I went 10 cents over my grocery budget. I used cash exclusively back then and didn’t have an extra dime. I asked the cashier to take one banana off. She refused: buy the whole thing or buy nothing. I left the store without any bananas. This all better be worth it, I said to myself. Today, this book has opened up career opportunities for me left and right.
What inspired me to write this book? My friends knew I loved saving money, so they always asked me, “What’s the best way to save money?” Ha-ha, don’t spend it! All kidding aside, I had enough ways to save money to write a whole book. If you follow the advice in my book, you will also develop the resourcefulness to achieve any goal you set. Saving money will become an exciting game you can’t stop playing.
